PL Section
PL is one of six sections of the Software Technology (ST) department. Together with the Intelligent
Systems (INSY) department, ST is responsible for research and education in
computer science and engineering at Delft
University of Technology. PL and the Department of Software Technology are
part of the TU Delft Faculty of
Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science (EEMCS).
History
Until the end of 2015, Programming Language research and education was part of the
Software Engineering group and consisted of Eelco Visser (appointed as Antoni van Leeuwenhoek professor in 2013) and Guido Wachsmuth. Wachsmuth left at the end of 2015 to take a position at Oracle Labs in Zürich. At the start of 2016, the department founded a new Programming Languages section led by Eelco Visser. Sebastian Erdweg (2016), Robbert Krebbers (2016), and Casper Bach Poulsen (2019) joined the program as assistant professors. Peter Mosses joined the group as a visitor in 2016 and is still visiting. The group was extended with an Academic Workflow Engineering team, consisting of Danny Groenewegen and Elmer van Chastelet, which applies and validates research results in production applications supporting education and research.
